Default LS1 in a Chevy 2

After doing the conversion in a 3rd gen RX7, and a 1970 Chevelle, and seeing the bogus kits that are out there we decided to build a kit that works.

We started with a 1966 Chevy2 and are installing a 2000LS1 and 4l60E from a Camaro. We will be offering a package for these cars that includes motor mounts, oil pan headers and trans crossmember. The kit will work on stock front end cars. There will be no welding required everything will be a bolt in. The headers are longtube 1 3/4 and the sparkplug access is killer.

Pics will be up soon.

Default Nova Conversion

I'll be interested to see what you come up with - I'm doing the same conversion - headers and steering clearance are really the only obstacles I've come across so far. Made my own conversion motor mounts like S&P sells. I'm running a front sump GTO pan as is at least one other person that frequents this site. The steering still hits the pan but I haven't looked into determining what might be a good remedy other than modding the pan. Any thought to doing an M6 as well as the A4? What is your timetable - any idea? -Bob

With our mounts and the same oil pan we have clearance. The headers will be done next week.

After watching Rides the other night with the Promax fiberglass Chevy II, I really like dthe idea, until I saw the Promax starting at $19k without any suspension!
I still think a LS1/T56 Chevy II would be cool, but then again, the LS1/T56 combos should go in everything made!

Brian with your mounts does the pan sit above and forward of the front crossmember? -Bob

The pan sits behind the front crossmember.

PSJ this works with the stock subframe.

On the chevelle I have the mounts and we used Camaro shorty headers.

Hmm, how far behind the crossmember - mine is about 1" behind and the steering hits - although I haven't determined how much additional clearance would be necessary for no interference. -Bob

I'll get some over the next couple of days - the block is in the vehicle - not sure you'll see too much - what particular angles do you think you'd like to see? -Bob

His reserve price is $60K
Nice car, I love the dash and wish someone could build one for mine but I don't think it is worth $60K. (I might have a different opinion when I finish mine the way the costs are accumulating!!)

Yes it did, I was just referring to the convenience of a rust free body and new chassis. BAsically every car I see, I envision with a LS1/T56, regardless of what it has in it now...4cyl, BBC, Hemi, etc.. LOL
