Default Vette Alternator Bracket & Other Vette Accessories

Found my parts by driving from Corvette shop to Corvette shop on a Saturday morning, in my area. There are quite a few in Ft. Lauderdale. Some of these restoration shops have blown or parts motors. Half of the retail price is usually the going rate for good used parts, but it depends on the part. Gar

I got the PS pump, and alternator from car-part.com just do a locator and you will find the best prices going. I think I got the alternator for $100 and the PS pump for $90. The brackets are cheap enough you might as well get new. I think the bracket cost me $40 new from gmpartsdirect

I was in the same boat a couple months ago. I bought a Camaro motor and needed the Corvette accessory drive components to fit my Sonoma. Ebay, the for sale section of corvetteforum.com,and patience became my best friends. As kossuth said, the main bracket from GM is relatively cheap new, most of the bolts and such aren't too bad new, and a few items are the same between the Camaro and Corvette setups. Fortunately, the water pump and pulley is one of the pieces that is the same between the two. The alternator and P/S pump will be the most difficult to find used, are insanely expensive new, but can be had from your local parts store almost reasonable if you can find a way around the core charges. Between Ebay, GM and corvetteforum.com I spent a little over $500 to get everything. I then sold what I couldn't use of the Camaro stuff on Ebay to recoup some of that cost. Below is a fairly complete list of what it takes to convert with GM parts. Good luck!

BTW: Maybe the Mods could make this a sticky for the conversions section?

the brackets from gm including the tensioner that you need is roughly 270 dollars that aint cheap to me
rough prices i got the tensioner alone is 76 dollars 2 brackets are 76 and 1 is 36
plus tax and all that junk my total was 270 dollars to say the least i didnt get them
you can get a custom posished setup from street and performance for a little over 300

Yes, the accessories are different. The alternator, p/s pump & reservoir, a/c compressor, harmonic balancer, all brackets, etc are platform specific. The truck stuff is different from the f-body stuff, which is different from the Corvette stuff. One of the few commonalities is the water pump and pulley. Even on the water pump the truck one has the outlet pointing a different direction (up) and will probably interfere with a cable throttle body. All this came from direct comparisions. I own a truck with a 6.0L, a motor with Camaro accessories, and now a complete Corvette set too.... Hope this helps.

I just finished getting the remainder of my vette acc parts. I couldn't find the alt/ps bracket, small black reservoir bracket, and reservoir used, so I got them from a dealer. I got a new/rebuilt alternator at a local parts store for $159. The S&P brackets were too expensive for me. If you need dealer parts, Gene Culley at Fred Beans will sell them to you at dealer cost through the end of January. Here's his post on the vete forum:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=984267

You must ask for dealer cost when you ask for a quote and there is a $50 minimum.
I hope this helps. If you need the reservoir part # or small black reseroir bracket #, let me know.

The reason you must use C5 accessories is that if you look at the frame of a S10 you will see why. The LS1 is so damned wide compared to even the 4.3 V6 or a regular Vortec V8 even that the fbody and truck alternators will sit on the steering box. I only have 4 inches of clearance between my steering box and my PS pulley. Also, the C5 accessories sit back against the motor about 1-2 more inches giving you more room to the front. Somebody said the LS1 swap is easy in the s-series trucks and they are full of ****. You have to modify alot of stuff to get em to even fit. Headers are a problem, hell even the stock manifolds don't fit without modifications. The LS1 sits so low in the S10 because the crank centerline is alot higher in the block of a LS1 than it is of a older SBC. Because of this you have to get the motor down lower to keep your driveline angles right. The motor should be at about a 5-6 degree downhill in the truck so you can minimize the chance of driveline vibration. I have alot of pics on my website of things I had to do to get it to fit right and my tranny is right up real close to the tunnel too. Any LS1 swap is expensive, the S10 is real expensive because of all the other weird crap you have to do to get the truck in running order. I had to shorten my oil pan for ground clearance, added in a oil cooler assembly to get some of the capacity back rather than just overfilling the pan, (BTW, on the Vette dipstick the oil level is about 1/2 of the way up using the modified pan in conjunction with the oil cooler). I've gone alot further with this than most guys would because my truck is slammed, and driveline issues are a potential problem particularly with a 50+ inch long driveshaft. Also don't want to drag my oil pan. These are some of the things you have to work around. If you have any questions ask, I would be more than willing to give some advice.

i just called advance adapters and they had no info or anyway to help on this swap im goin to wait for my street and performance catalog and i think im just goin to ditch my ac probably i have manual steering now but i want to convert to ps so i may go with a street rod setup from street and performance if all else fails

i will figure out a way to get this done without spending 1000 dollars on new accessories and brackets

Hi', if you're going to S&P to save money forget it!! just the air cond' bracket and compressor with serpentine belt cost me $590, I'm looking at a GM parts bill with brackets, ps pump, alt bracket, ect for $396.84,with a dealer discount!! I still had to purchase an alternator $200, ps lines, I don't think the S&P acc. put the power steering pump in tight enough, don't know for sure, but i think it will not clear the steering box, my truck is a4x4 and the engine sits a little higher than in a 2wd so this might not be a problem in your truck, iI know I'm over THE $1000 figure and i still have to get ac lines, send me your email and i'll send you the pics i have, THANKS

I have a C5 alternator bracket if anyone needs one. Only thing is the idler pulley mount is boxed in for strength, they break off in supercharged applications. I also have an AC compressor and lines. Shoot me a pm or an email if anyone is interested.

I have the whole setup on my 98 C5 motor. Didn't know the vette accessories were worth that much. On my RX7 the only parts I'm using is a camaro alternator and the tensioner bracket. Electric water pump, no PS or AC.
