Default 98-02

is there any major difference in the years between the 4 as far as computer, harness and overall ease of adapting the drivetrain to a thirdgen?

yes.
the 98s have diffrent harnesses, diffrent PCMs.... along with diffrent heads, coilpack mounting, ect.

the 99-02s use the same harness (atleast the same pinouts), same PCM (with slightly diffrent programming) have the better heads, later cars have no EGR and better intake, ect...

as far as whats a better drivetrain, get a 99+
as far as ease of swapping when you have the complete pullout: they're identical.

Yea, stay away from 98's if you can. They may be cheaper at first but will be more expensive for stuff like heads down the line. a 2002 would be the best since you would get a LS6 intake and more than likely a LS6 block.

realy i am not sure , in fact what is mentioned above is all correct , but i dont not feel that ,the 98 models in my opinion had a little more performance i dont no why? but i met alot of stock 98 who kicked 99+ asses , i owned 3 98 models and 2000 and 2001 , the 98 seems very tuff to beat , are there any reasons? i am talking about stock.

i know alot of stock 99s that do the same.

its more a factor of the driver, mods, and THAT SPECIFIC CAR...

but since we're talking in general terms, you would want the better parts, as you have a better chance of making thoes fast then a oddball factory freak.

so it's the 01-02 that is the most sought after since it has the ls6 intake and possibly the 02's with an ls6 block?
