It really depends on what route you go. You can just get conversion motor mounts (and trans crossmember if your swapping to 4l60e/T56), have speartech rework your wiring harness, get some conversion fuel lines, and decent fuel pump, and you get get it running (barring the little problems that typically come up with this swap). Or you could go my route and have a new rear end, driveshaft, brakes, suspension, tubular kmember, tubular a-arms, rack and pinion steering, on top of upgrading fuel system and conversion parts, on top of mods, and it will take longer, be more exensive, and it will be harder.
In terms of technical knowledge, Im 18 and never worked on cars before I started this swap not to mention I never took an automotive class in my life and have a complete lack of tools, and I am finishing up the swap now. However it did take me longer than it would most people (going on 9 months now). If you research it enough before you do it (which I didnt) and you get the right parts, it can be done pretty quickly.
I would suggest if you dont have a compressor and air tools, get them, it makes things go by much quicker, I may not know a ton about cars but I do know that air tools are a godsend.
