Awesome. Have you got all the pieces to put it together? If so, it should go pretty quick.

There needs to be more of us thirdgen LS1 guys. I wonder just how many there are? Hmmm.....

Good luck on the swap, but I know you wont need it.

Let us know how it goes.

Well I have almost all the parts needed for the swap, i just need to get the engine installed so that i can do all the wiring(time consuming) and figure out which radiator hoses to buy. I already have the fuel system done(upgraded pump, external adjustable fuel pressure regulator and all lines), have all wiring cut down to only the ones i need in the third gen. I now have ran into a few set backs, found an exhaust bolt broke off in the head and it wont come out, so i took the head off and am going to take it to a machine shop monday, also found a slight crack in the oil pan so i am going to replace it as well.

Heres a pic of the F-Body Motorsports mounts. Let me see if I can find another one that shows the mounts a little closer.

So is this the motor you found that has the 243 heads on it? Ever find out any more about "how" they got there?

Thanks for the pics StngKlr, I have them installed the exact same way. Here are the pics of how they dont quite line up, I will just have try and reposition everything to get them just right.

BlueSix, yes this is the same motor. I couldnt really get a hold of anyone to ask any questions, but just by looking and inspecting everything, the owner of the car decided he wanted an LS6 so he had heads and a cam installed. The block has the vin engraved on the back, so i know that came in the car, but all the head bolts and water pump/front cover bolts have been off and reinstalled at one time, you can tell by the marks on the bolts that they werent factory installed. So it should be nice once i get it back together and see what kind of times it can put down.

Its hard to tell by the pictures, but it seems that both mounts need to go a little further downward and inward, so it is not just the postioning of the engine that will allow them to line up.

take the motor mount bolt. shove it thru... and tapp it the rest of the way in... do the same for the other side.

its a tight fit, so thats really the only way to do it... the mounts are rubber/plastic... they'll move to fit.

Man thats pretty close, but it looks like the mounts on the K-Member are right on. What car/mounts did the motor come out of. If they are F-Body mounts on the motor then I am lost. Heres a pic. of mine if it helps any. Anyone else have any ideas?

I had to do that also, but mine were pretty much dead on so... I dunno, give it a shot.

well on the driver side i installed a poly mount, so that is a little tought to move, I do know about the hammering them through, that is how i always do them. They are from an f-body and they are real close, so i am going to modify them just a bit and see if that gets me dead on, it should be easy. I was just wondering if anyone else had problems with theirs. Thanks for all the replys and hopefully I will have it up and running soon. I need to send one head out to the machine shop for a helicoil and i will be ready to get it going.

Had the same problem but it was with the tubular kmember not the conversion mounts...I had to open up the bolt holes a bit on each side to get it right.
