Default GMPP Trans controller?

GM Performance Parts catalog shows (in the new 2005 catalog) that this will work on the 4L60E, 4L65E, 4L80E & 4L85E.. The web site only lists 4L60E as stated below.. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this?

12497316 4L60E Transmission Controller
Includes wiring harness, controller, software and lap-top hook-up. Allows the use of electronically controlled transmissions in early model vehicles. Fully programmable for upshift, downshift, part throttle and wide-open shifts and shift firmness. Comes pre-programmed, just enter your rear tire diameter and rear axle ratio and go, or create your own custom shift characteristics. Originally developed by GM Racing for off road truck racing. The controller has the ability to record and graph drag race data like time, speed, shift point, engine rpm and more. Requires a throttle position sensor on carbureted applications, see instruction manual for specific parts required.

I used a PCS controller on a 4l80-e in a diesel conversion at the shop. Their tech line is great. It went in and worked really easy. It took a little while to get used to the tuning format. But everything is laid out really well to aid in tuning. Once I figured out all of the little things it took a couple of hours to tune and it was perfect. They load it with base programmming which is fine for gas engines but it took some tweaking because of the diesel. It did not like the gas tuning and the transmission shifted high and hard. good luck

no i dont have that system but i do have a 60e in my truck. i have prolly rebuilt at least 100 700-r4/4l60-e's. and at one point i almost swapped to an 80 for the better gear ratios, but decided against it due to the extra weight and i have not broken a 60 yet.when i considered the sway i did alot of research for computer and wiring compatibility - they are pretty similar and easy to change.

Moregrip,
Flipper is correct...the GM unit and the TCI unit are the same. The TCI controller is fully compatable with the Twist Machine shifter. It makes driving your automatic hot rod a lot of fun!

Hey Kev,
What "other" joy stick type of switches do you reccomend? Something that leaves the stock steering wheel intact?

Flipper,
I've seen a few guys make their own mounting brackets and install spiral cord switches. The Twist Machine is the only wireless one that I'm aware of.

Kevin its not clear to me what to get from TCI to make the shrifter work!
can you list the harness # and price?
The TCI website doesnt quote a single harness...or do i need to get the whole set 377000/1?

thanx

If you have an LS1 type motor then the 377000 and the Shrifter from Twist Machine.. The T-Com is a harness and a weathertight computer. It also contains a data cable to hook to a laptop (for programming). The Shrifter is VERY easy to install.
