Default What to do with LS2 throttle body?

I'm looking to put an LS2 in my '03 Blazer. I'm figuring that it should go mostly like throwing in an LS1 but I started wondering what do you do about the "electronicaly controlled" throttle body. Is it something that is as simple as just putting an LSX 90mm TB or do I have to do some more creative solution?

You need a different computer I believe or just have the stock one flashed when going from electronic to cable throttle body. Its not hard at all to run the electronic throttle body. Find an 03 Duramax diesel that was written off, pull the pedal. The module is built in to it. Pretty simple. I went to GM and got a cross reference on it and the duramax pedal is essentially a new more compact set-up then whats on the 6.0l gas.

Cool see that is why I love these forums. You post a question and within a couple of hours somebody knows the answer. Something else I was wondering/theorizing about is that in my case having the late model computer I would just be able to have it reprogrammed to run the new LS2 I mean I know I'll have to get a harness adapter made up but for the most part is it gonna be plug and play? Oh and I got a 4.3L right now so I know that helps with alot the swap.

Someone mentioned in another post that the LS1 computer (which is the same box you have in that '03 Blazer) can run the LS2 engine. You will need to change the knock sensors out though. Then, you can just have the Blazer computer reprogrammed for the swap and you'll be good to go.

Thats what I'm hoping, I was told that after '01 all the GM cars got the same computer just different programing. So the bigest problem should be a harness and then shoehorning the mill in.

What exactly is it that you hope to gain by taking on all this added effort? Seems to me like there are any number of ways to improve performance without trying to completely replace your existing system. Most people are buying F-body MAFs trying to eliminate the complexity of the "fly by wire" accelerators...

The LS2 knock sensors will not work with the LS1 ECU. They are a totally different design. Not just a different location, but the whole principle of operation is different.

Well then will I be able to get a regular throttle cable type throttle body to work and then basicaly treat it like an LS1 or should I just run a LS1 or LS6? I mean I'm not trying to be a freakin pioneer here just lookin to see what is gonna be the best choice I just kinda like the Idea of an all aluminum 6.0. But if you really think of it it's only 19ci but you do get the higher flowing LS6 heads and it is cheaper than an LS6. And btw I'm gonna get a crate engine either way I don't want somebodies old ragged out motor. So it's not really a question of what I find at the junk yard.

I would probably consider the LS1 first. It has been done before in the S-trucks and there are some parts available now such as mounts, headers, wiring, even a Kenne Bell S/C kit for the swap. You can do a good set of heads, cam, and intake, and probably save yourself some money as well as a lot of hassels from trying to "pioneer" the LS2 in.
Don't forget with the crate motor usually comes the added expense of front accessories. Vette accessories I believe are the best for the swaps.

Yeah that sounds about right... I'm startin to think about the LS6 service engine stripped down and I'll put on the Vette accesories I can get wholesale prices on GM parts I'll save some $$$$ and everything will be NEW. I know I can save some cash gettin a motor outta a wreck but with my luck it'll have a spun bearing or a thrown rod. I don't want to deal with the BS. There is a guy who has a shop near me and all he does is swaps like this I think I'm gonna go talk to him maybe even get him to do it we'll see I'm still about 6 months from doing this I'm really just researching while I get the rest of the truck ready.

That guy you are referring to is Lee at Lee's High Tech Trucks. His number is 727-344-1800. He is the one with the Kenne Bell S/C kit for the LS swaps.

I just went over and talked to him for about 2 hours guy has LOTS of knowledge but if he did the jog it would be major $$$$ but I'm pretty sure it would be worth it. But I don't know if I can afford it he definetly would do a better quality job than I could alot of it would be the little details. Alot of stuff he can sell me and it might be a little different cause I live less than five miles from him. Either way if I have him do it or I do it myself he DEFINATLEY is gonna be a resource. I saw some of his headers and they are really nice 1 3/4 primaries THICK *** flanges and all he can make em stainless or have em coated.
