Vortec 6.0 to 87 Monte LS swap

Vortec 6.0 to 87 Monte LS swap
1- Is the Vortec 6.0 (non SS/escalade version) a viable alternative to the Ls1? Performance upgradibility wise?
2- If the donor engine came from a 4x4 truck, can you still use the transmission in a car? If not can it bolt to the 2004R? Will the 4l80e even fit into the g-body chassis?
3- What all is required to mount this engine/transmission combo in a late 80's G-car? Car in question is a 1987 Monte Carlo LS (SB305/2004R/3.73)
4. Wiring is no issue, but what about stock accessory mounts from the 6.0; will they interfere with anything?
Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

I'd think Jonh B and his website
http://home.earthlink.net/~bzdel/index1.htm
could answer just about any question you got, considering the 6.0L and the LS1 are so simular.
If a 6.0L is going into a car, the first two things I can think of that might need to be changed or at least addressed, is the height of a 6.0L intake, and the deep oil pan of the 6.0L.
But I imagine it won't be long before John B, or one of the several others that have dropped a LS1 based motor in a Monti or Camino, pops on here.

2. if you're using the newer 6.0 with the shorter crank flange you'll need the gm crank spacer and corresponding longer flexplate bolts to bolt-up the 200-r4 converter.
3. you'll need an f-body oil pan and custom engine mounts. depending on whose mounts you use you may or may not need to modify your oil pan.
4. stock truck a/c brackets did not work for me. everything else fit fine. the stock truck intake fit underneath my hood but the "vortec" engine cover did not clear.
if possible i would highly recommend getting a donor front frame section including trans crossmember for mock-up purposes, it made things alot easier for me.

Great. I would like to use a 200-4R anyway...
The 4L80E just looks heavy.
Whose motor mounts do you think I should use? I want it to sit in like a Gen 1 SBC.... I dont care about a/c...
Where could I get the crank spacer?
I appreciate all of the help.
thx.
