Default third gen upgrade to a fourth gen

I'm the proud owner of an '88 camaro. right now its home is my brother-in-laws barn. It was my grad present from my parents. I have been thinking of buying a wrecked fourth gen ls1 powered camaro and transplanting anything that will fit or work into my '88. I'm talking everything from powertrain to suspension to interior. Has anyone seen this done? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Yep, it can and it's expensive to do the drivetrain swap.

the entire drivetrain, rear suspension, brakes, seats, doorpanels, dash, gauges and center console can be transfered over.... with diffrent degrees of difficulty...

the seats are a bolt in.. the console takes some minor cutting, the doorpanels and dash are fairly envolved... rear suspension and axle is almost a bolt in...

do a search on all the parts on www.thirdgen.org

Default Thanks

Thanks for all the info guys. Its nice to know that it has already been done.
I'm not shure if I'll try to transplant the dash. I kinda of like the Covan/Autometer guage kits. If anyone has any sugestions of things that I should not waste my time on transplanting please let me know. I love to turn wrenches and make things work, but somethings just don't work well and are frustrating. Has anyone found a good source for long tube headers for a thirdgen LS1. This seems to be a common stubling block from what I've read in the forum.

What did you do for headers in your '89?

I'm kinda waiting for Bruce at Hawk's to come out with the stainless steel ones that will be available (supposedly) in May. If not, GM Performance Parts LS1 header flanges and Hooker 2210s cut & rewelded to get the new flanges to fit.The stainless steel ones would be a better plan.
