ls1 in a Prelude?
ls1 in a Prelude? The other day my good friend thought up the idea to maybe install a ls1 in his prelude. Well just wanted to get some feed back and ideas about this from the pros........is this crap possible? 
I'm sure its possible, it would be hilarious to see that...I've been noticing alot of the imports becoming candidates for the LS1 conversion.
Trial and Error, do your homework on it size, specs, mounts, all the essentials
Are you thinking of converting the Front Wheel Drive Prelude to Rear Whee Drive? How about starting with a complete Corvette C-5 chassis? I believe wheelbases are similar. In my guestimation you are talking about a $20-50k project depending on how much stuff you already have and how much of the work you can do yourself. Also how much body and paint work is planned.

very possible and would surpise the hell out of a lot street racers. There's a 240sx with an LS1 here in Houston. Not sure what all he went through to have it done but I'm sure it wasn't cheap. Sounds like an interesting project..just costly. What gen prelude?

ls1_cam2 who is your friend? lol. i have been very seiously considering this swap for my 97 Prelude aka "Lude Behavior". i am a retired riceboy recently entering the world of modern V8s. this engine was an obvious choice as it is relatively compact compared to DOHC engines (it wouldn't surprise me if the thing is shorter in height than my H22A) and there is incredible potential. seeing as i already have the car and it is paid for completely i have estimated costs between 15 and 20 grand for a quality conversion, cost depending on initial engine cost and desired upgrades (which will be minimal because the car is rather light and i dont want to put the engine behind the stock firewall to improve weight transfer and traction). i figure the best way to go would be to have the stock chassis cut enough to allow for the engine and drivetrain and reinforced with round tubing and an integrated cage. a M6 would be preferred as, despite how some might feel, the Prelude is a sports car, and i would like to get my hands on a 80s/90s Corvette IRS but failing that i could settle for all F-body drivetrain components. to be continued...

one of the problems i have run into involving my proposed LS1 Prelude project is the front suspension and steering components. i would like to use struts in front to simplify the conversion but the location of the steering rack (between the engine and firewal is an issue so i may need to resort to a conventional upper and lower control arm setup with the steering rack under the engine. any suggestions would be considered and appreciated. p.s. sorry for the novel.
really my friend is really my friends its not me. He has a 97 lude that runs ok but i have conviced him that there is nothing like v8 power, so he came with the idea of doing a ls1 into a lude which sounded crazy to me and he asked about how much it would be i told them i dont have a clue. So i did what any reasonable guy would do i asked the pros at ls1tech which rule!!!!might i add. Sounds like(devoured by a deer) would be a good guy to talk to about this will pm you and see if you can get me some pics and ideas on where to start.

It can be done. I have seen 3 RWD preludes. It would make for a hell of a sleeper. I would do it to my Prelude, but I don't have an extra 10k+ sitting around.
OT: Has anyone ever seen an LS1 in an MKIV Supra. I'm sure it would **** off a whole lot of people, but it would be cool.

It would require extensive fabrication:
front subframe mod or make a new one
make a trans/driveshaft tunnel from sheetmetal
make a rear subframe for a rear axle
and after all that time and money it would still be a honda prelude.
much, much easier to start with a RWD car:
