Is it possible to make a 96 LS1 Lumina?
Any ideas on how to make it work if at all possible? Thanx Guys! Clint

I have a 97 Lumina that I would love to do that to. But it runs too well to chop up right now. You would have to find a complete rear end to work with the Lumina body structure. You'd also have to enlarge the "hump" in the center of the car to accomodate the driveshaft. If you have any metal working skills, I don't think it would be too difficult. However, having such low mileage on it, I'd keep it as a daily and buy something else to 'play' with.
BTW, keep an eye on the coolant in that car. I had to rebuild the top half of my 97 (same 3.1) because the Dexcool became contaminated (dunno how, we never opened the motor) and blocked one of the coolant passages in the head. The pressure blew a hole in the head to lower manifold gasket and leaked water into the lifter valley. It showed up as water in the oil, but the car ran fine. I tore it down to the pistons since it had 103k miles on it already. Put another 30k on it since and it gets better gas mileage than before to boot. End tangent.

I actually ran across the article the other day on google. http://www.hotrod.com/featuredvehicles/42647/
The car used a 406 with a LT1 intake. With the car using almost complete f-body parts using a f-boyd LS1 would fit like a glove but just remember to use the 98+ crossmember. As well if I was going to do this myself, and belive me I have thought that through. I would use a 98+ f-body to use the larger brakes but thats just if ya had the money. hope this information helps.
