Gauge ???????s
Hi, I am getting ready to buy gauges. I am wondering if I can modify a set of GM gauges to work for my project. LS1 and 4L60E my harness has one lead for the Tack and one for the Speedo. will any gm gage cluster work? I can buy a Decoda set up but I am not interested in digital. if I buy an electric speedo, will the odometer work too? Thanks for any help.

What is a ppm? if I try like a newer say truck gauges, and use the tack and speedo, most of the trucks have at least a 4L60 or 4L80E would I need converter boxes? Will I need a 4 cyl tack, or do most GM ones work the same?

I'm using Defi gauges for my 72 Chevelle with a 03 6.0l in it. Yet to hook them up but they'll just be run off from the sensors. Only gauge I splice into the harness is with my speedo cable. I have no odometer though...

The gauges are like Autometer but a different company. I will be removing the sweeper part of the dash and making a plate for the gauges. Putting a cluster from a GM vehicle doesn't look proper in the Chevelle. I'll dig up a pic.
Its not the best pic, but you get the idea.

Thanks matt I saw that too. I was thinking of using the new gauges and cutting them to fit the same size hole as the stock ones so when looking through the ss holes they would look more stock. I will keep seeing if they can be hooked up. Any help from all will help.

I just got Dakota Digital gauges custom built for my car, I like the idea of it doing 0-60, 1/4 mile, and top speed recall, but like you said you dont want digital. I will have to let you guys know how they look when I finally get them back, they said it would be 2-3 months.

I'm using VDO gauges, the electronic speedo is fully programmable and the lead from the PCM just plugs in....you do a calibration run and that's it. It is even set up so you can "fine tune" it for more accurracy. The rest of the gauges required the VDO senders

I like that, what dash did you use? the sweep one? Did you need any Black boxes? The Auto meter tech guy I talked to yesterday said, the tack they sell will work set as a 4 cyl and the speedo should work from the VSS wire. That looks to be 5" ans 2.5" gauges. Did you have any clerence probs in the back? Thanks for the post.

Have you seen the chevelle setups at www.covansclassic.com ? This is the setup Iam going to use in my 72' Chevelle. It's a little pricey but I think it's a good value if don't have time to fabricate your own.
