ive got a tube k member, so that might help with the macs. i hear some guys heat up the tubes, and stick like a 10ft pipe in the collector, and gently massage the header into a strait positon. otherwise, they will hit the a arm moount, and not bolt up.
info ive found useful any-who.
good luck. im not in the mood to spend 800 on headers yet.

Thirdgen LS1 here.
I think I'll wait on the headers for the moment. I bought HPtuners and a week later they started selling twice as much for less so... That wont happen to me again lol. Someone else will make some headers for us, I hope lol. Thats not saying anything about Hawks, I just want something a little cheaper, but people in hell want ice water too.

What they need to do is come out with some headers that arn't stainless steel because thats what's making them so much money. Look at the stainless headers for the 4th gens they go for 800 for a pair. Now if they came out with some ceramic coated headers along with the stainless set then i think they would sell a lot more, because then they could cover a larger base.

Thought I would chime in and introduce myself.
I will be doing the LS1 swap in my 91 very soon. got the LS1/t-56/ecm and harness/accessories from a wrecked 01 SS, about 40k miles.
I went ahead and ordered the hawks k-member and a spohn trans x-member with adjustable torque arm.
I can't wait to get started

Well, I started tearing apart my front suspension the other night. I got the wheels, hubs/brakes off so far. I also got my spare factory k-member notched for my AC, so I'm making progress. I also got my new Centerforce Dual Friction clutch in, and ordered my Hawk's LS1/3rd gen full length headers. They should be here in 3 weeks or so. I also talked to Neil again today at Hawks and I'm going to send them my wiring harnesses next week and just have them do it. I'm shooting for June 1st to be done... we'll see. I'm getting close, I can't wait!!!

Cool, love to hear progress. How much is Hawks charging to do the wiring? I wish there was an easy way to explain how easy it is to DIY. But, I did low voltage home wiring for 5 years so I guess that helps me a little bit. Good luck on the rest of the swap.
Got my Weld Prostars and slicks yesterday, look for that time in the sig. to be dropping tonight.

Hawks charges $650... still not sure if I'm sending it them or not. After seeing some of Mr. Dude's info and talking to Neil at Hawks, it doesn't sound like they do a whole lot for the $650... doesn't seem too hard. At this point though, I just want the damn thing done!
*Oh yeah, I just got in from the garage... got the frontend completely out... k-member and all. Now its time for some welding and powdercoating, then put it all back together!!

kilobyte- Thanks for the nice comments, I can't wait to get it done. As for costs in the setup... I'm not sure... I lost count. LOL Really though, I don't have that much in it. I bought a wrecked '98 TA for about $3500 and parted it out and made over $4k back on it and I even kept the motor and trans and other misc parts. Believe me... its the best route to go. You can make a lot of money parting out a 4th gen! I basically got my motor/trans for free when you look at it that way!
