why not just use the toronado transaxle? if a cadillac 500 will fit in the ack of a yugo with that transaxle, fitting it into a 92-95 civic should be easy as pie, that is if you make pie using a bigass shoehorn

Default Mid Engine!!!

thats what i would do if i wanted to do a Civic.... i would go MID engine, i maker adapters and you can use a Porsche transaxle, from the centerline of the axle output flange to the bell housing is less than 9 inches average (depending on the specific trans...) lets do it!!!

Dammit, why hasn't anyone dropped an LS1 into a Honda Insight yet?!

People, please, remember the #1 Golden Rule: Anything will fit into anything!

/me goes off to dream of LS1-powered golf carts and skateboards...

The guys who REALLY know what they are doing at Jay Leno's Big Dog Garage put an LS7 (That's right a pre-realease 425 ci LS7 straight from GM) in a Toronado and they didn't even think about using the stock transaxle (granted it was twin turbo 1070 hp).

If you really want an LSx powered Civic hatchback go with a mid/rear format like this. But please, if you do it, badge the car properly so the source of your door blowing power is known.

Ive seen a 502C.I BB chevy( stroked to some ungodly C.I) with a weiland blower in a civic hatch. The top of the blower was like 2 or 3 inches above the roof of the car. It can be done. Watch monster garage

You'll do anything to get rid of that wet fart sound of the honduh engine! Use the th-425 with an adapter to mate an LS6 and put it in the hatch. Beef up the front suspension for the wheel stands you'll be doing. good luck ricer!

my general rule for motor swaps.

The chassis your installing it in must have 1 of 4 things.

1 look cool
2 Be a light weight chassis
3 handle well
4 be a classic/rare/desirable car/clone

I don't see a honda falling into any of these.

I've seen other pictures of that thing, I will have to see if I saved them onto my computer. Honestly I like the idea of doing something similar to a later Civic with an LS1, the front end would probably fly up every chance it got and that just excites me. LOL

i've seen it done with a toyota V8 (i think) and it involved more work than you're capable of.

civics are ugly and queer. why the hell woudl you want to put a perfectly good motor in a car that can't handle it?

You can put anything in anything that has wheels,, to some extent,, you have to build the car aroung the chassis and power train, PERIOD, gut the civic, build a tube chassis , either round or rectangular, as a rear wheel dr, with the caddy or tornado transaxle, then set the civic body on and start building from there,, that is if you aren't bankrupt by then, only one thing bothers me about this idea,, WHY a CIVIC?? is it because you already have the car?? I don't think I would waste the money myself,, why not start with something that might be worth something when you are finished,, [ of course not anywhere close to what it will cost you to do this] regardless of the car choice, We are doing a 57 Nash metro right now , blown 502 BBC, streched 22" way expensive project, and we just got started,, Good luck tho,, it sure would be different?????

Go with a b18 with a CRV block and turbo it. Even with that there are people on the Honda Acura forums that will tell you that's to heavy for that car. Think about the weight of a V8.
