Perfect. But one question. Where does it get it's 12v reference from?
It would require a regulated 12v if it's a true 12v in sensor. It can't rely on the voltage provided by the alternator as it can fluxuate up to I think 14.6v or so. Out put voltage is going to vary if it's a simple resistor based on the input voltage that is flexable based on alternator RPM.

In the digital circuitry of the instrument cluster there is most likely a voltage "smoothing" circuit, probably a reservior capacitor taking fluctuating input voltages on one side and outputing a constant conditioned 12v to the sensor. It probably is a 14.?v reference, they just call it 12v becasue thats the lingo.
