Default Power Steering Delete

Hi I have a LS1 in a very light weight BMW and would like to eliminate the power steering and tensioner nearby. What size belt would I need to accomplish this. All the pulleys are OEM (1998).
Thanks for your help.

if you lookup "short belt mod" on the other parts of this forum, you'll find the answer and everything thats envolved.

its a common mod for some of the drag racing guys on here to do.

The shop that did my LS1 conversion for my race-car also fabricated a simple bracket that you can use. If you are interested, you can contact Scott or Mike at www.renegadehybrids.com. They have a P/S delete bracket that should just bolt on.

Tell them Steve says hi.

good luck,

Steve

What year BMW? Any pics you can share?

What kit did you use and if not did you fab it all?

https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-swaps/308379-belt-size-when-no-ps-ac.html

I had to remove the lower alt bolt to clear the belt. THere are still 3 others holding it in place. No worries.

Thanks for all your help!

I just posted the data on the conversions post so I won't repeat it here.
Needless to say the general reaction from the BMW guys and the Chevy guys is negative. That makes me happy.

Here's my low tech, red neck solution:
My setup is different but I used a string to measure my belt length. I pulled the tensioner to mid position and wrapped the string around the pulleys. I marked the string where it lapped and then measured the string. I guess I got lucky but the first belt I bought seemed to fit fine.
