Question Need Help with this LS1

Today I got my porsche tranny in and hooked it up with the Corvette LS1, well I started the installation and since I went with the Corvette LS1 I have to change the oil pan, exhaust manifolds alternator bracket and AC bracket.

My question for you guys that know the LS1, would the above parts needed fit from a firebird or trans am etc. I understand their exhaust manifold don't face down like the vette and the alternator and AC are on the bottom of the motor? If so what years would I be looking for.
I have other shots on my web page if you need further info.
Thanks for the help

Mark I sent you a PM.

Ok here is an update I have the motor and tranny in the correct place turns out the Oil pan clears by .375" the AC will work. So the only change I need to make is Power steering bracket and pump, Alternator bracket and the exhaust manifolds Better then I first thought.

Hello Thanks, just goes to show you what you put your mind to you can do it yourself.

This is my first real build ever. I played around when I was a kid, but now I whet for the time.

Thanks for the kind words.

Keep in mind that you can't mix and match Vette and F-body accessory brackets. They won't line up when you go to put the belt on. However, you can use any exhaust manifolds that will clear your frame or whatever else might be in the way.

Scooter thanks not good news do you know which they will be out? I hay have to modify the brackets because I have no choice with the alternator and power steering? Do you know if I change the water pump with this help? Because the tension pulley is on the water pump?

Thanks,
John

The water pump is the same for Corvette and F-body but the tensioner pulley is different. Don't quote me but I believe that the Corvette accessories are slightly farther forward. Don't forget that the crank pulley is going to be different too! I think you're going to have to use all F-body brackets and pullies if the Corvette part won't work. You probably don't want to hear that. Sorry.

Jtm311,
What trans is that - G50? Or a Boxter Getrag?
I'm building an Ultima GTR with LS1/G50 combo, so always interested in other setups.

Hello Allen no this is a 915 custom made by renagade they flipped ring and pinion a taller first gear a few other good thing. If I used the G50 I would have had a problem with the frame.

Well some good news after talking with the guys from GM and a few specialty Ls1 shops they told me I can't just change the alternator and the Power steering pump from a Camaro and fit it on a C5 LS1 without changing the damper alternator pulleys water pump AC, etc. you get the point, well guess what it can be done and I did it. I bought an alternator from E-bay thinking it was from a C5 well it was not, it was from the camero. I move it to the bottom of the motor and use the bolt holes that would hold on the Camaro alternator and pulley, made two small mods to the alternator (show in the picture below). You can even use the standard belt. I will make one custom bracket that holds the alternator to the block so I can get at the plug better I thought this may help some of you out there! I still need to change the exhaust manifolds, anyone have a set ??
I have to also change my pulley on the Power steering pump because it is cracked.
