LS1 in supra Ive been lurking these forums for a while and was wondering if anyone has ever swapped a LS1 into a supra. Id be suprised if it hasnt been done with all the swaps into 240sx, Rx7, 300zx, etc. I searched
A Mkiv, no need to, since the stock motor is good.
The other supras, then a LS1 would be a nice swap, but since the car is not a good looking car, imho, so I would not consider it. Although I have seen many 350 swaps into early supras.

you wouldn't need to swap an ls1 into a the last gen turbo supra. you could though if you got money to blow. I just don't know which would be cheaper? It probably be easier to swap in the 2jz or 1jz motor with a turbo

Decent idea- the LS1 is smaller and lighter than the straight iron 6 in the Supra so you could get better weight distribution/handling. And no turbo lag.

yeah thats true but yet again i haven't seen to many dd 800hp ls1's rolling around.
the 2jze was designed for insane hp(30+ lbs boost) 90% of those 1k+ hp supras are still running stock cranks

there are 1k+hp LS1s on stock cranks too.
The I6 2jze is an insane motor, but the reliable 1khp motors have WAAAAY over $30k in them. W2W could build you a FI LS1 a lot cheaper
This is true and it is possible to do so, but to do the same with an ls1 and keep it reliable it would be the same cost as those 1khp Supra's. i just don't see the point in swaping the 2jz for the ls1. Maybe if you were going to road race it but not for top end fun.
I'd love to put one in my 83 supra, looks as good or better than most cameros IMHO and runs under 3k lbs c the stock boat anchor engine.
I love v-8 power and torque, I dont want to mess w a turbo, intercooler, rrfpr,and all the tubing and electrical crap that goes w those engines, and 300 hp at the wheel would be plenty for a 2800 lb supra [post aluminium block]
