on my gen 3 truck motor I have a one wire plug where the oil pressure is taken on the gen 1 motors on the rear of the intake area. Is that what that is? I have started preliminary setup but didnt see a connector on my new painless harness for this? I have outputs for teh speedo and tach but need to know where to get oil pressure...
Thanks
Dave

I'm not positive on the Painless harness but in general, the Gen3 PCMs don't use oil pressure as an input so it's probably not in the harness. The oil pressure sender in the block just feeds the gauge.

Thanks Matt I have a mechanical gage can this be changed or is the electrical better? Also what about the temperature gage? can I just use the one on the head? Will any electric temp gage work at that point or does it need to be changed also? I have a mechanical one but didnt know if I could use it instead?

you can use the mechanical, nothing wrong with that.
if you choose to go electrical, autometer makes adapters and sendors to work with the metric fittings on the ls1.
if you are using your factory guages, and they are electrical, you will want the autometer sendor for a "180 sweep" gauge. it works with most GM clusters.

The PCM needs the stock temp gauge in the drivers side head. It uses temp for many calculations. On my car, I put a secondary sender in the other head and ran that to my stock mechanical gauge. For oil pressure, I have an electric Autometer sender down by the oil filter and then the stock mechanical nylon tube in the back of the block. I got the Autometer adapter (M16x1.5 to 1/8NPT).

gen two and three are 1 wire o.p.s. gen 1 may have a three wire plug. one wire for the gauge and the other two are an over ride for a bad fuel pump relay. if the relay does not work the car will just crank and crank when the switch sees oil pressure the switch closes and power is put to the fuel pump. If you have any other questions or need harnesses or pigtails call Rudy at hardwired (210)827-0556

you dont have to hook up all three wires, just use the tan wire to the oil psi guage.
worked like a champ in my car. ive got an Lt1 sensor, if that helps any.
