Default Engine number etched on front passenger side

Can anyone explain what this number means please.
It is etched on a machined vertical section at the front passenger side of block.
VIN number is explained elsewhere but I cannot find any record of this one.
Mine is "etched" K94226 - does it indicate date ?

i say old chap, just to clarify, when you say passenger side, i assume you are talking about a right hand driver vehicle. also, don't you mean the rear of the block? and finally, is this a holden, manufactured down under?

I do mean passenger side as you know it.
Front edge of block level with and in front of engine mount and close to water neck.
Engine out of a 2002 Firebird but is now in a Cobra replica.
The block is LS6 but with LS1 heads.
Before the car can go on the road legally , it must be government tested and part of the paperwork means I have to prove engine build date.

my engine is also a 2002 out of a camaro ss which should be the identical model. the block is LS1. the vin derivative number is on the driver side at the rear. it is laser etched on a polished flat area. it it is probably imposible to see if the engine is installed in the car.

the vehicle vin can be derived from this derivative #.

sorry i can't be of help. maybe the service department at a dealership can.

After another look the etched number also appears low down on the drivers side but this time as K 094 226
Above it is etched the VIN derivative 222164123
Is there a web site that will identify these two sets of numbers ?
Thanks
