LS1 motorcycle ideas I have had an idea for a streetable motorcycle with a transversely (sideways) mounted V8 and a top fuel motorcycle type or 2-speed transmission behind it. An LS1 seems like the way to go (the engine came along after I first started contemplating it) because of the lack of weight and the power available. Any thoughts? It seems to me the best way to do it would be to run a beltdrive from the crankshaft to a MRE motorcycle flywheel/clutch with a high torque starter adapted to fit. The engines are so reliable and make enough torque that it could probably be done as a direct drive with just a clutch and a deep reduction.

not sure if this is the advice your looking for but here ya go they put a 502 big block on a bike i think they would be someone to talk to. side note these bikes sound great big block open headers.Boss Hoss
Yeah, Boss Hoss is the brand that makes the 350 and 502 motorcycles. They are not transverse, they are forward facing motors. The use a special two speed auto that is very compact. I'm sure it could be fabbed up to an ls1.

those ^ came to mind; but then i wondered about 'transverse'..
those are all forward facing
so im sitting here wondering what a top fuel, transverse mounted drag bike would look like. im picturing something pretty sinister; but i cant figure why youd go transverse instead of forward facing
unless its that 'forward facing' is transverse when compared with a v twin (ie, crank parallel to the frame or perpendicular to it)

Top Fuel montorcycle, transverse mounted engine. It would have to be quite a bit wider to take an LS1, and these don't exactly turn well. The 2 speed planetary transmission and belt/chain drive are more than up to the task though. That bike is quicker than any LS vehicle to date, by a lot.
There was an N/A V6 nitro bike a few years ago. Never really worked.
