Default coolant vent tube

What are you guys doing about the coolant vent tube outlet ? I know you are bypassing the throttle body but what are you connecting it to? A pressure tank? The radiator overflow drain?

Radiator or heater hose. Do a search.

I have another question though...since my coolant system is non-pressurized, would it be ok to have it go to the overflow tank? Thats where I have mine hooked up to because it is the easiest right now, but will change it if I have to.

Its still pressurized, just the overflow tank isn't. The vent tube should go to a pressurized section of the system.

an alternative is to drill & tap the horizontal flat surface in the water pump casting above the coolant outlet. make sure you clean out the chips.

Ah ic...so how would I go about tapping into one of the heater/radiator hoses? The line is too small to use a "T", how else can it be done?

if you want to tap into a radiator hose, jagsthatrun.com sells metal hose Ts that you insert into the hose. they are 1 1/2 or 1 1/4" diameter on each end and a small branch for the vent connection. they are specifically made to connect to the vent tube.

Go to the parts store and in the HELP! section there will be small Ts that go into the 5/8 heater hose and have a 3/8 inlet you can use for the head coolant return.

mine goes to the 4thgen radiator... previous to that, i had it going to a fitting in the 3rdgen heater core return port on the radiator.

if i was to do it all again, id drill and pipethread tap the BACK of the water pump fitting where you cant see it, then put a 90* nipple fitting on it. one less hose in the way.

mr dude is also right. you can tap into the fitting on the radiator if you arent running any heater hoses.

I was planning on drilling and TIG welding a fitting onto my aluminium radiator.
Would this be ok?

What side should it be on and should it be right up top? Rasd has inlet/outlet like early SBC rads.

you should put it as close as possible to where water enters the rad, that way you are reading the hotest stop. On my kit car that's the lower drivers side.

you still run the heater hoses.

they go from the LS1 waterpump to the heatercore, and back to the LS1 pump.

the late model 3rdgens have that oddball 3 port diverter valve setup... so with the heater properly hooked up to the LS1 (2 ports) you have that port left over.

thats correct. i was thinking if the car didnt have a heater, just using the empty port.

I mean for the coolant line from the Throttle Body, not for a temp guage.

I machined a piece of aluminum to go in the upper radiator hose that looks like the Jags that run piece.
