Default Oil pressure guage?

Ok I did a seach and couldn't really get a strait answer on how to connect and oil pressure gauge. I know that the sending unit is at the back of the block just behind the intake, but what do I plug into that, is there some gm connecter that can be wired to an autometer gauge? Or do i have to drill and tap the thing above the oil filter on the pan? Pic would be great!

The Autometer gauge needs to use the Autometer sender. You can put it down by the filter or find some fittings to try to make it fit in stock location in the back of the block. I chose to put mine down below. Sorry, I have no pics of it but there has been one posted around here in the past.

Default sender woes

I have not found any adapter to put it in the stock location but you can take the original sender out and smack it with a hammer and dismantle it and then drill and tap it (the base) for the appropriate thread for the sender you are going to use. making your own adapter out of the old sender.

I just left my stock sender in place and tapped into the thing above the oil filter for the Autometer sender. Very simple.

Default It fits in the stock location

I used an Autometer ATM-2268 adaptor and an Earl's 45 degree 1/8 elbow part number EAR-991501ERL.

Yes, this adapter works. I have my stock mechanical gauge running using it (in addition to the electrical gauge mentioned above).

Here is what I did.

I got a 1/8" thread tap. I took the plug on top of the block in the back, drilled and tapped it to screw in a street elbow and was able to screw the autometer sender right in there. I also did the same drill and tap to the plug that goes in the passenger head to screw in my autometer temp sender.

Total cost was that of a tap and the street elbow. Works great. and avoids having to put the sender down by the hot header on the oil filter mounting boss.
