2wd/4wd trans electronics interchangeable?

2wd/4wd trans electronics interchangeable? I am looking at a 2001 5.3L motor and trans for a swap into my El Camino and the 5.3 has a 4WD transmission. Are the electronics the same on a 2wd trans, how about the connectors? Can I just buy a 2wd trans and plug it in, I don`t mind having the pcm reflashed for a 2wd trans just want to make sure the electronics are compatible. Also will F-Body transmissions work or just truck transmissions?
It is the exact same trans except for the output shaft. You would be better off selling that transmission and buying a 2wd one. You have to tear it apart all of the way to the bottom to change the output shaft.

I thougth that all of the transmissions used the same electronics, just wanted to make sure. I was going to sell off the 4wd trans and buy a 2wd trans, way too much work to swap tailshafts 
Turned out though that the engine/trans combo wasn`t as complete as the add made it sound so I passed on it, but at least I know the trans is the same for next time. Thank You.
