Complete Engine with motor mounts/accessoires/sensors, trans/shifter, engine wiring harness. MAF, IAT sensor, clutch slave braided steel line (if T56)

That's about it.

I'd also pull about 4 feet of the interior harness where it meets the engine harness to allow for the cleanest connections (if you're doing it yourself). I did it this way, and I can disconnect my engine harness from the car in ~3 minutes. Makes life easier later.

Thanx for all the help guys. I am so conflicted with what to do. I want a nasty RX7 with an LS1. But I miss my TA.

hey, I have a 93 rx7 with a t-70 turbo and a bunch of other expensive crap including a streetported motor. I know a good bit about rotories. mine is putting down around 375hp to the wheels, and the car is a blast to drive abouve 3500 rpm. but I rarely get the chance to get on it. I'm always afraid it will break. Im on my third motor with this god forsaken money pit, and I have had the car just over a year and a half. rotories suck, they break. the longest one will live is 50,000 miles with mild modification. thats why I'm now a member of this forum. I'm looking into an ls1, or even an lt1 swap. the car is to sexy to sell. with the v8 you can have a fast reliable and great looking car. I wish I had done the v8 from the start. good luck on your project.

Just make sure you stay away from Grannyspeed. We just started about 2 weeks ago dropping an '04 LS6 into a 94 FD we got the whole set up from Grant (Grannyspeed) From the 1st day we got his set up we haven't stop grinding or cutting everything so far we have had to modify it one way or another including body parts on the FD. Long story short we went with his set up because of the bump steering issue with Hinson set up and I guess is on me for not doing enough research on it.

Good luck though you probably wont have as much fun as we are with the install but you will once you get on the road.

Im going into a 2nd gen..... or miata...

http://members.tripod.com/~grannys/2...ructions1.html

Dont think you can blame any kit company on having to fabricate a little.. The 2gen looks a little simpler...

I'm doing the V8 LS1 conversion as well. Hinson's kit, '93 black FD. Haven't found a motor yet, though.

I road race my car and daily drive it. Bump Steer isn't an issue using the Hinson kit. It is a simple bolt in affair with no grinding or clearancing needed. It has worked well for most 95% of the LS1/FD conversions out there.

The Granny's kit I would avoid for an LS1 3rd gen FD. Their kit for a second gen FC uses the standard motor mounts from their older V8 Chevy kits with an adapter plate bolted to it. The motor mount kits are universal for the GM engines (LT1/L98 and older) FYI. The kits that Granny's makes for 2nd gen RX-7's seem to be good (Ford or Chevy). The 3rd gen Granny's kit I wouldn't even contemplate using as LS6FD has painfully found out.

Good luck with your project Phoenix. Saving 400-600lbs+ and having a car that can handle/brake with looks as stunning as the FD should make up your mind.

likely throwing a LS2 into a 3rd gen... I need to purchase an electronic throttle pedal and an engine harness. I contacted Speartech for the harness...any other suggested sources for these items? Does the LS2 ECU/ECM need the electronic throttle body to operate correctly, i.e. does throttle body have/use any signal input to the ecm?

What all did you have to modify? I have Granny's 3rd gen kit and everything fit as I expected except for the tranny mount sandwich plates which required a bit of trimming to clear the seat rails. I bought my kit a while ago though and I've heard that they redesigned their tranny mount so that it fits correctly now.
