A Th350 and aTh400 will bolt up to an ls1. You have to leave one bolt out, the top right side. The pilot on the front of the torque conv. has to be 1/2 inch longer. I put an LS1 with a 236/230 split reverse with approx. .600" lift, springs, and pushrods. Heads have never been off the motor. The transmission has hardened 2nd gear sprag, blue plate clutches, performance band, and a transgo shift kit. I put a PTC 4000 converter with a 1/2 inch longer pilot. I used the Edelbrock carb intake and ignition module with a holley 750hp. In the rearend I put 4:30 gears and an eaton posi. All this is in a 85 Monte Carlo SS. My customer took the car to the track. Would you beleive 11.30 @117 mph. Yeah, I could'nt beleive it either! Just imagine if it had ported heads and a little more compression! I just wish the car was mine.
