Default LS1 into an LS2

Im trying to weigh between the two..(im thinking long run)...either sell my car(1998 Z28 74000 miles no tread on the tires, horrible suspension, and a few other minor details) and look into getting a low mileage SS or WS6, prob an 01 or 02 and work from there and that be a car I keep for a long time. OR* I could keep the ride I got now and do some major changing. I wanna swap my high mileage LS1 for an LS2, SS hood and spoiler, new suspension, new rear end(stock ones weak), new tires and wheels, new clutch, heads, cam, headers, the whole schabang...obviously. Basically refurbish my car entierly. Now a low mileage SS or WS6...a nice one would run somewhere between 22-27K depending on who u buy it from and for me to swap engines in my car and do all that...i say all and all.....15-20K? I dunno you tell me guys. If I were to get an LS2 block and put a nice cam, headers, heads, intake manifold, etc in it...how much hp you think Id be pumping? Give me ideas...Im open for opnion. Im looking to keep whatever car I get or redo for awhile and im also looking to compare prices...so lets hear it?

Why wouldn't you want to save the money and trouble of wiring changes and just build an LS1?

You can still get LS1's new, or with all the mods you are talking about, you can get a used engine and make it as good as new with all the new parts.
Just sounds like a waste of money and time to go from an LS1 to LS2 when for the same money, you could build an even better LS1.

If I were you, I'd use the LS1 wiring harness and PCM and just throw an LS2 long block in with your existing top end. That would give you the LS2's benefits without costing you nearly as much. Check LS2 402 threads on here to find the contact info for Kris Jones at SDPC, tell him what you need...... I'm sure he'd give you a great price on a 6.0L LS2 shortblock or longblock with the needed conversion parts. Then you just need to deal with the knock sensor issue (do a search, there are 2 solutions) and get a wiring extension to the cam position sensor. That's whay others in your situation are doing with the 402, (personally I'd get the 402, hehe), but you do just as easily do it with a stock cubed LS2.
