Default Cheap Throttle Body

Just to get the thing running I'm thinking about using a 4.6-5.3 TB on my LS1. They can be picked up VERY cheap and I've heard they will fit. Anyone else done this or put an LS1 TB on a 4.6-5.3?

I'll dump the $$ on the go-fast stuff later...

Truck TB and earlier F-body TBs use a smaller pulley
and different PCV, coolant nipples but the identical
casting to later F-bodies. My ported TB is actually a
truck core with my F-body pulley & IAC motor & PCV
nipple swapped on. The smaller pulley might be more
"friendly" to short-pull gas pedal linkages.

I have one from a truck on my LS1. Exact casting as the one I took off (damaged). The cam looks about the same as the one on the original, but I have a '98, so it has the smaller of the F-Body ones anyway. Fits great, had to bend the PCV tube, but that was the grand total of effort required. The bore, etc. is exactly the same. I was **** and measured with my calipers.

I'm not a huge fan of older Chevy truck body styles...But, I will have to say, that IS by far, one of the most beautiful truck customs that I have ever seen! The bed styling compliments & flows with the rest of the truck better than the factory original. And of course, you chose the best color to show this masterpiece off. Very, very nice job. Gar

I appreciate the complements. That pic is the concept I'm building to. I created it using MS-Paint and PhotoEditor. I'm doing all the body work to match what you see in the concept.

I agree they are not that pretty in stock form (60-66). The current status of the truck can be seen via the link in my sig. It's most likely going to be midnight blue.

Thanks,
Mike
