Weighed my 2nd gen ... oh my !!!!!!!!! Took a drive to the local Recycling center tonight and got my 74 Camaro on the digital scale. I was figuring to come in around 3500 lbs(w/out me ). To my shock and amazement I peeked through the window and in a pretty blue glow .................... 3280 lbs!!!!! And I had a 1/2 a tank of gas!! No wonder this felt sooo strong !! It feels quicker than my 01SS . It's lighter(my SS was 3312 lbs with "interior delete" package, with full interior 3420 lbs and less than a 1/4 tank of gas) , has a stronger engine ( LS6 w/ LT's vs LS1 w/LT's), a little more gear (3:42 vs 3:23) , and will probably have better tire(BFG DR vs stock Goodyear F1's). True the 4th gen suspension is superior to the 2nd gen and the aerodynamics are better . We'll see - got some more wiring to do then it'll be time to take it to the track!! I have about 100 miles on it so far and loving it . The mileage is great already , throttle response awesome. Now I just have to get to work on the cosmetics ( outside of the engine bay and undercarriage it's quite an eye sore !!). Again thanks to all on this site who I've learned from and saved me countless hours of headaches).
My 72 weighed in at 3230 with a roll bar. I dotn think the leaf spring suspension is that bad, just throw a set of slide-a-links on there and a good set of shocks. Should hook just fine.
