yep, check out the Hybrids/Conversions forum. Tony (a.k.a. Nineball) just finished up his 69 with a blown LS powerplant.

And then he sold it! This conversion is quite popular and can easily be done.

Here's a couple of pics snapped by me at the Power Tour. The first is Tony's '69 and the second is a pic of a 1st gen convertible. Be prepared to lust in your heart! (I know I did ).

i dont know why anyone would do this, a 69' camaro is a BEAUTIFUL car, and they're selling for soooo much right now its flat out not worth it to not put anything but a first generation LT1 in it. do that, fix it up, sell it for 50,000, but a 1998 Z28 for 7,000, dump the remaining 10,000 profit into it, and u'll have a very nice, streetable low 10 second car

AC goes bye bye, new shifter hole, and the tunnel sometimes needs to be lifted otherwise they are extremely similar in dimensions than a traditional small block

That only goes for numbers matching SS and Z28s, not cars that came with 6-cylinders or base model coupes with non-matching engines.

I guarantee you my '69 sold for much more with the LS6 under the hood than it would have with a non-numbers 350ci "restored" setup. You might want to check around at what well-built pro-touring 1st gens are selling for, typically much more than restored versions of the same cars.

Yea to what tony said, my car was origionally light blue with blue interior an inline 6 and column shifted powerglide. the car might fetch 10k if it were restored perfectly, and its sure as hell worth more than that, not to mention will be a ball once the ls1 is in.

Tony,
Keep in mind you also have to consider the amount of $$$$ you invested vs. what it sold for. I see non-numbers matching fake SS cars that are nice drivers go for $20K plus here in Florida. No bashing intended, as I wish I could have seen the car before you sold it, as pictures only do so much justice in most cases. Where did it find a new home anyway?

Derek
