Default Vette LS1 Auto tranny

Anyone used the Vette auto tranny for their swap? I have a Vette 4L60E auto tranny and I want to use it for my LS1 swap. This is the tranny that attached to the rear end and driven by the torque shaft. My question is what do I have to get to put on this tranny so that it will bolt to my Vette LS1 motor? The front of the torque tube has the bell housing but the bolt pattern is different and won't mount to the front of the tranny. Can I just get the Fbody bell housing and bolt it to the tranny without a problem? The other question is what about the rear extension housing? I seperate the rear end from the tranny and the shaft is about 9 and 1/2 inch long. Does the rear extension housing of the Fbody tranny bolt right to the rear of this tranny without a problem? I am getting close to start my swap and need to complete the tranny before I begin. Thanks for any info..

PS. I did a search on Ebay and they sell all kind of rear housing for the tranny and I don't know which one I actually need.

You have to convert your 4L60E to the complete F-body configuration which would be the bellhousing and extension housing. I'm not sure about the output shaft, it might be the same. You need to pick the brain of a really good tranny expert.

Do yourself a favor, sell the C5 trans and buy the F-body unit that you need. There is nothing so special about the C5 4L60E that would warrant the amount of BS that you will go through to make it work in an F-body config.

I am buying an Fbody auto tranny from a friend of mine. I will do a comparision before I sell the Vette unit. I can always keep it for spare just incase something wrong with the one I am buying. Thanks for the input

PS. I just went out and visit a Vette dealership's part department. They said the 2 trannies have different part numbers. I wonder they do this just to charge more on the Vette's part.
