If you are going for a hunkered down AWD, like the Syclone/typhoon, the oil pan could be just what you need.
YES.... that is a good ideal... Can you post a pic.... I need to know how big the hole is....

V8_DSM_V8again,

Unfortunately, I can't get a good pic of it right now - the engine is sitting in my Cobra replica and I'm in the process of welding in the mounts. It's roughly 7" back from the front edge of the pan and around 2" in diameter.

I think in the case of the Lingenfelter truck that they modified the floor pan to avoid modifying the oil pan. I can't come up with any other explanation, because they used the same transmission that comes stock (700R4 / 4L60 / 60E / 65E) in those trucks. Might have also needed to move the engine up for downpipe / exhaust clearance, can't say. Even the big 4L80E fits without the kind of floorpan modifications they did (assuming you put the crank centerline of the LS1 in the same basic spot as the 6cylinder.)

I personally think they should've put the 4L80E in that truck. But hey, they're the pro's, I'm just an amature who doesn't like rebuilding transmissions every other month. Seems like a needless drain on the bank account. And it would have cost them some power. But the payoff is reliability....

A guy near me owns it now. I have ran into him a few times. The first guy who had it rolled it a strip.
