3rd Gen - 4th Gen A/c I have a 1982 Trans am. I want to swap out the whole a/c components with the 4 th Gen. I'm talking about the whole box that is under the dash that hols the Evap core, heater core, fan ect. Will this work? I have the whole unit off a 1999 trans am that I will like to install.
Your 82 stuff will work fine just use the fourth gen condensor and get the lines made. In my opinion it is not worth the hassle of trying to make the 4th stuff fit and then have to tinker with all of the ductwork to get it to function correctly. On the + the vaccum stuff is identical to form fit and function. Most auto parts stores will make custom lines if you can get the lengths and correct fittings for them. It really is very little trouble.

Thnx! I tried putting in the 4th gen condensor in its 3rd Gen housing but does not fit. The bottom line of the condensor on the rear and travels through the lower right side hits the housing. Any modification needed?

I tried putting in the 4th gen condensor in my 3rd gen housing but does not fit. The lower line of the 4th gen condensor hits the side of the box and does not close. Had this problem before? what was done to correct this?
