Default adding a pin to the PCM connector.

ok on the RED PCM connector, pin number 47, i currently have nothing.. looking under the snap on cover, all you see is the rubber seal.

i need a pin of some sort to crimp onto a wire and put in the PCM connector.

two questions...

what pin do i need? (and where can i get it?)

how do i put it in? this appears to be SLIGHTLY diffrent the the normal weatherpack connectors i use.

(if anyones curious to why i need it, its for the PCMs shiftlight....)

I had to get a junk harness end out of a yard so I could get the pinouts when I did my A4 to M6 conversion.

Take a terminal from some piece of emissions equipment that you aren't using and move it over to 47. You just push the terminal thru the seal. It will pop thru and you just push it down until it clicks past the white retainer. You have to remove the red cover first.

i dont have it right infront of me, but is this right?:

take off the red cover (it just pulles off?)

push the old pin out (do i need a special tool? are there hidden tangs holding it in now that the cover is off? or are they visible?)

push it into the new location

replace the red cover..

Take off red cover (depress tang on each end to remove).

If the wire is cut you can pull it on thru. If not, gently pry up the retainning tang and pull it back out thru the housing. You can use any small screwdriver, etc.

Push it into the new location until it clicks past the tang.

Replace red cover.

damn, that was easy.. lol worked great! thanks alot.

it was actually easy enough that its inspired me to take the harness of a friends car apart and start removing "extra" wires to make it smaller... its a older pre-emissions swap, so theres a good bit he doesnt need...
