6.0 Id I found what looks to be achevy 6.0 in a local salvage yard, but I dont know to tell just by looking at it. the only markings I found 5.3 on the back side of the passenger side head, what does this mean. Also can anyone tell me how do identify 6.0 just from lookin

Probably a pretty crude way to identify a 6.0L engine is that the heads will have "317" stamped into the corner. It sounds like you have found a 5.3L engine, which is also pretty decent!

If you can see the front or back of the block, you can tell whether it's a 4.8/5.3 or a 6.0 by looking at the casting. Since the 4.8 and 5.3 share the same block, it's a little tougher to tell those apart (actually alot tougher).
You have to be able to see either behind the water pump/accessories on the front, or behind the flywheel on the back. The head casting numbers are also a good way as long as they haven't been changed.
