Power loss and Computer holding program

12 volt power loss and Computer holding program? Hello all
The question is how long will the computer keep its custom program when 12volts is disconnected. I had mine disconnected for about 2 weeks. When I reconnected it all it will do is run for about 5 to 8 seconds then die, and when I try and restart it just hits once and dies. After the first 5 second run the check engine light does not light up.
I went on vacation and thought that someone might want to steel my LS1CJ5 so I hid the ground wire. A friend up the street had a car stolen and I was being mybe a bit too cautious.

The firmware is written to flash memory, so it will stay there indefinitely with or without power.
The PCM does lose its fuel trim, adaptive spark, and other data after a while w/ no power, though, and this sounds like what you're describing. Just use the gas pedal to keep it running for a bit and it will re-learn the idle data it needs.
The check engine light you describe is normal...the PCM doesn't light it during hot restarts under most conditions.

Thanks for the input, I'll try that and see if I can keep it running. I was also worried about the Corvette antitheift system that was deleted. If it comes back because the 12v was diconnected so long, then it will never start.
I guess I should go ahead and but LS1 edit so I would have the ability to fix this in the future my self.
