12 volt disconnected and computer program lost??

12 volt disconnected and computer program lost?? Hello all,
The question is how long will the computer keep its custom program when 12volts is disconnected. I had mine disconnected for about 2 weeks. When I reconnected it all it will do is run for about 5 to 8 seconds then die, and when I try and restart it just hits once and dies. After the first 5 second run the check engine light does not light up.
To fix this I need LS1 edit?
I went on vacation and thought that someone might want to steel my LS1CJ5 so I hid the ground wire. A friend up the street had a car stolen and I was being mybe a bit too cautious.

The only time I have seen a computer go south is if the power is lost with the Key on. Plus it is a better idea to disconnect the positve side of the battery next time. Try turning the key on, let all the lights and noise stop and then start her. If still dies then do it again with just a small amount of throttle, after it starts let sit for about 5 min. Then drive her for about 20 min. Sometimes when the power is taken away for a time the computer needs a few minutes to remember the settings.
