Default Engine set back in 2nd gen swap

hey gang,
i am looking into a swap project for a pretty serious drag car. i was wondering if anyone could tell me how much room there is between the back of the motor and the firewall on a 2nd gen? jsut trying to get an idea of how much further back an ls1 can sit that a gen1 small block with a distributer.
the car in question is a 78 camaro lt if that makes any difference.

thanks
tim

I think you can get it about 2" farther back than the SBC and still keep alittle bit of clearance behind it.
