Default Can I use 99+ O2 Sensors on my 98???

I searched and couldn't find an answer. It's not a covnersion but you guys know your stuff.

My friend gave me some O2 sensors that had a lot less miles than my stock ones.

They are from a non-1998 car and my car is a 1998 Z28. Will they cause problems?

I have a FLASHING (really weird) SES light but it could be from a number of things (just installed headers) and am trying to narrow it down.

ALSO, could I have O2 sims for the wrong year, is that possible?

Thanks for any help!

flashing SES means the PCM is detecting misfires.

You can use any 99+ sensor with the exception of oil pressure and coolant temperature. You might have to get a new knock sensor harness if you swap knock sensors, as GM changed connectors at some point in 98.

Holy crap, misfires??? Maybe I bolted a coil in the wrong spot ! I'll go check right now.

I have to get the exhaust fixed on Monday. The y-pipe has a three inch gap between it and the intermediate pipe with just a band clamp BARELY on it. Would this huge exhaust leak cause it?

I have 99+ O2's on front and SIMMS on back, could these cause it?

Lastly I cut the EGR 1.25" where it protrudes into the intake, could this cause it?

Thanks.
