I would say yes.. I had 4:10's in last year and did not like it at all. Too much RPM on the highway. Now back to 3:23's and want more gear. I think 3:73's are the perfect choice for the A4's. IMO
Thats what I am going for next time around.

I am running 3.73`s on my daily driver El Camino, with a stock 4l60e they seem to be just fine. But then again RPM doesn`t really bother me, I had a th350 and 4.11 in it for a while and still drove it on the highway every day.

EDIT: right now I have 26" tall tires and with the torque converter locked up in overdrive I am running about 2000 RPM at 60mph.

You may want to consider 3:42's. Or 3:55 's . I'm very happy with 3:42. Depending on your car 3:73 might just go up in smoke a little more. Harder to launch, and yes higher rpm's on the freeway. Back in the day there was a time that you needed alot of gear to get a 3800- 4000 lb car moving but most hybrids come in much lighter and with the broad torque curve of the LS1-6 they don't need a ton of gear to get going. Ofcourse were talking "daily driver". My car purrs at 2200 rpm on the freeway and get's around 25 mpg. With gas prices about to explode it really makes sense to stay conservative on the gearing ... just my .02 . Again a weekend warrior I'd have completly different advice and it wouldn't start with gears... it would start with a high stall converter and real tires. I can't tell you how many times I've seen LS1 f-bods chop well over a second in the 1/4 mile with just a converter and tires. Your car sounds like mine , daily driver that'll surprise and hang in there with a C6 corvette. What ever choice you make just remember what the car will be doing the most.

3.73's ............I have them......there not bad for a daily driver......at 3k on your at 80 mph....to me 4.10's are a bit much....it just depends on what your want.....its a give and take thing......for me 3.42's are a waste of time......maybe 3.55's. I think most people see 3.73 as a "happy middle." my .02 good luck

I have 4:11s in my Chvelle and a 3200 converter and bult 4L60E with 225 75 R 15 (around 28" tall) for tire. Don't have a tach but at 80 I only push the peddle down maby 1 inch. I may be around 2200 rpm or a little more. it rocks and I drive in the fast lane on I-75 People look and say wow. this is a 72 chevelle convertiable and around here if you see classics on the hwy, they are in the slow lane. still get decent mileage and will blow many cars away starting at 80 MPH. It is a great combo but I do smoke the little tires off at the start. welp, didn't build a race car any way. I would not of changed a thing on this set up but I have plans th buy tires over winter. LS1s and the A4 sure made this thing go...., Edit... Welp I did the math and it looks like at 80 I am running at 2700 RPM dosn't feel like it but the math can't lie.

I run 3.42 gears and like the sitting in the middle of just right take off speed with the highway top end.

I have tall rear tires, almost 29 inches. I am planning on 3.80 gears with a 2800 Yank Stealth torque converter. The car has a T350 in it right now, with 2.79 gears. By my calculations my 65 mph RPM will actually drop about 200 with the overdrive and lower gears, should be just under 2000. Even for a daily driver, which mine is not, I think that is reasonable. It should do just fine on road trips, and snap your neck when I nail it.

I have 3.73's in my Monte SS, 98Trans Am, and 1984 Z28. They are great for take off but they absolutely suck on the highway. I like driving around 85mph on the interstates and about 70 to 75mph on the highways and 3.73 gears cause the engine to tach around 3 to 3500 in od. I am going to regear my Monte SS with 3.42 cause I this car really is more comfortable on the highways and with gas prices like they are, I need fuel mileage and decent take off. For a daily driver with an auto od, I think that 3.42 is the best compromise IMHO.

I have 5.13 gears, and it does just great with 37" tall tires.

Check out the calculators at www.ring-pinion.com to find RPM effects with tire size and gear ratio changes.
