damn that's nice man...i think you need to lower it though...a lower stance will be mean-looking...did you have to do any cutting to get the motor to fit?

I don't plan on lowering it... I had it lower for about a week but it was too low and I was already tired of worrying everytime a bump was coming up in the road... screw that. It will sit lower after an alignment... the top of the tires are about 1" out from where the need to be... it will come down a little and sit about stock. Still a little high but fine by me b/c this isn't a lowered show car... I want to race it some too. I'm running the TR230 reverse split... like it so far. We'll see how it does. I'm curious what the car weighs too... I don't have the AC compressor on it yet, other than that it is full weight. Still gotta get the AC working. Gotta run!!

Oh yeah, I also don't want to lower it because I have a moser 9" and the top of the torque arm mount is already way to close to the body

I said to lower it because it looks like a big gap between the wheel and the fender. I'll wait to see pics after it's aligned and ready to go for my final decision. Other than that man it's a freaking sweet car. I bet it hauls *** with the LS1

Looks wicked. Good job. I've been thinking about doing that with my 3rd gen. What did you have in it before as far as engine/tranny?

Stock was a 305TPI/5speed.... then I went 305TPI/6speed, and then finally a 355TPI/T56. The 355 had ported stock heads with the LT4hotcam and I got mid 13's out of it with a stock tune. Came across a complete wrecked '98 TA and the rest is history!

*Nautilus- not sure what it weighs yet... might try to get it to a scale today... just got back from my honeymoon!

No worries man, I've got a Currie Enterprise 9" and with sportlines in the front and stock springs in the back. Along with some trans tunnel massaging you'll be fine and it'll have a nice agressive stance.

Nice car.

If you don't mind me asking, not counting the cost of the car or the LS1/T56, how much did you spend on parts to get the engine down in there and driving?

All you really need to get a LS1 in a 3rd gen and running is motor mounts and a tranny xmember (~$250), wiring (~$650), fuel lines/regulator (~$250), and a better fuel pump (~$200). That's all I can think of right now, there are lots of other little things you'll need, but doing this swap smart and bare bones could be pretty affordable... especially if you already have the 3rd gen and/or the LS1/trans. I parted out a LS1 car and made lots of money basically getting the motor/trans/harness for free... I then used the money I made back to modify the motor. I haven't sat down and figured up how much I've spent but trust me... it's waaaaay less than you'd expect.

Triumphman- I didn't swap the battery over there... its on that side on firebirds

*Everyone else, thanks for the compliments!

Default About your cold air setup

Nice! I got my 1982 trans am with the ls1 setup as well. I wanted to know were did you get the cold air setup? does it run all the way to the bottom of the car? what did you pay for it? I'm needing one myself, mines will have to be ran through the driverside though.
