Looking for general swap help I have a 1988 BMW M6 with the 3.5 and it has some power but I want more so I have set my eyes on a LS1 and T56. Originally I was thinking about a turbo but I want to keep it reliable and the LS1 can make more power in the long run if I ever want to really get wild. So I'm looking for LS1 headers (or better yet flanges for custom headers), mounts and stand-alone computers. Thanks.
Flanges: GM makes 'em. Search for "header flange" in this section to find part numbers.
Mounts: I think you're going to have to make them yourself. I've seen a couple of 3 series swaps but I don't know of any off the shelf motor or tranny mounts.
Computer: The GM computer works very well stand-alone. That's what 98% of us are using. Speartech did my harness and I couldn't be happier with the work and after-purchase support.

Great! The flange PN is greatly appreciated and I'll have to check out Speartech and possibly give them a call. Will I need to know what engine I will be using when I talk to them about it? I don't have one but I plan on finding a cheap 6 speed Z or SS as a donor and stripping everything I could possibly use in the car as it's in dire need of updating. As for the mounts, does anyone sell mounts for the LS1 with urethane bushings on the end, or is this typical of the LS1 mounts? I know a few people that would be able to fabricate and weld brackets to my subframe rails. The trans mounts aren't as much of a problem as a tubular crossmember could be used. Unfortunately when I focused my metal working abilities I leaned more toward body than chassis. And what about a motor plate? I really appreciate the help that has been given and I'm looking forward to more information.
