My car finally goes 12s!
It took raising my shift point and uncapping the exahust to do it, but I have 3 time slips that read 12.9x. The weather was just about perfect - mid 60s, sunny, and low humidity (I'll post the DA if I can find it). I'm still running the same tune that I did last May so I'm sure that there's more in it. I have a wideband that I'll be installing this winter so next spring I'll be able to nail the perfect tune. My goal was to run 12s on the horrible 255/60-15 Firestone Firehawks, so traction is the obvious limitation. The track was preped pretty well because I never could get my 60s under 2.2 until yesterday. Car plus driver is approximately 3300#.
So, here's the slip:
RT: .1548
60': 2.0931
330': 5.575
1/8: 8.3992
1/8: 87.18mph
1000': 10.828
1/4: 12.9023
1/4: 108.67mph
Just thought I'd share my joy with you all.

Steve: It's impossible to find decent tires for 15" wheels anymore. Click the first link in my sig and then click "LS1 SWAP". There's a page on there with info for each system of the car.
The motor is stock 2000 F-body LS1, except for the TR224 cam. I like the cam a lot. No, it doesn't sound stock. Tuning it was not hard at all.
Pat: Good to see you around here. Drop me a PM and let me know how your swap is going.

TR224/224-112 Thunder Racing Custom Camshaft - 224/224 .563/.563 112 LSA 1700-6600 RPM Power Band. Excellent mid-range & high RPM power. Requires computer tuning on automatic transmission cars. Due to the fast ramp rate of this camshaft, the use of 1.8 rockers is not recommended.

What is the DA of the track.
I was at 5200ish and ran a 12.9@110 on a very shitty preped track (lost traction in 2nd gear on all runs and had to cut a few short b/c of it) after my cam. 2.15 60'
Before the cam i ran a 12.5@113 down in Houston. 2.01 60'
Your right, there are no good street tires for 15s.
All my runs were made on 275/60-15 BFG Radial TAs

Back in the day when I had my '79 T/A I used the McCreery 255/60/15 drag radial (dirt compound) . They hooked great at the track . The motor was an OLDS 408 ( torque monster from Dave Smith OLDS) . I had a 700R4 , 3:73's and the thing could pull a house down ( peak torque was 2400 rpm) but couldn't pull on the big end of the track. I would pull 1.90's all day long for a 3700 lb car was pretty good. My best ET was 13.40 @ 103.9 mph. And that engine had a baby 214 cam. I don't know if they make those anymore but next to a full slick tire you couldn't do better (atleast back then).

It all depends on your exhaust and where idle is set.
For cam sounds, try http://www.ls1sounds.com/camshafts.htm
