Default Notching K-member

88 GTA installing 98 LS1

Finally getting ready to drop the motor in for first trial fitting. When we first started on this swap I found some pictures of another 3rd Gen instal that showed the notching of the k-member. Can't find those now and was hoping to have a look at it again before we get started. Anyone have any pictures or link to the pictures I'm describing? I've searched but couldn't find them again.

we offer a bolt in k-member for the 3rd gen cars that retain the LS1 a/c and has integrated motor mounts. You can go to our website to check it out. If you have any questions please feel free to email me or just give me a call.

Just notch it yourself like I did... pretty easy and turned out great. I couldn't justify a ton of money on a tubular k-member just to save a few pounds. Here are some pics of mine....

Oh yeah, then use one of these with custom hoses to hook it all up.

That should work.... I haven't bought the fitting yet and made my hoses but it should all work out well.

GTA91 That's exactly what I was looking for! Appreciate the hose connector link too.
You don't happen to remember any measurements on what your cuts were do you? Looks like it's pretty close to the motor mount. You did a nice job on your install. Pulling everything out, cleaning, painting what a PITA but it sure looks good. How's married life treating you?

i belive you only have to do it if you are wanting AC correct?

so if you dont want AC dont do it... but if you do want AC id just notch it. im not being an *** but just wanted to say that i think its only for AC, and if you dont have ac there is no need

This will be sons daily driver so we're keeping the AC. Your right that you only need to clearance this area if you have AC and use original LS1 parts. We are planning on doing it ourselves, just wanted another look at someone elses before we get started. Always nice to have a reference before hacking away.
