Chevelle w/ 4L80E... which mounts?
I did a search, and know there are a ton of Chevelle swap threads, but I didn't see this question answered.
Do any of the available motor mount kits allow an LS motor and a 4L80e fit without any tranny tunnel modifications being necessary?? The only thread I could find where someone did it, they butchered the tunnel.
I beleive I have seen 4L80e swaps done in chevelles (with SBC's and BBC's) where little to no tunnel modications were necessary. Theoretically, don't the S&P mounts place the engine in the same location?? Shouldn't that mean the 4L80 should be no different than in a BBC/SBC ... or am I missing something?

Actually, the S&P mounts to seem to put the engine where it would be if it were a regular SBC. I have a set on my LS1 Jag conversion and it looks to be in the same place as every other SBC Jaguar. Therefore, it should put the trans in the same place as a SBC.
If you can't find any info on people doing 4L80E swaps, look for the people that did Turbo400 swaps. The trans cases look to be pretty close to the size and shape around the front half of the trans... the rear of the 4L80E is a little fatter. I know looking at a Turbo400 swap won't be perfect, but it might be a good place to start.
Also, not sure what your trans tunnel looks like, but for my 4L80E to fit properly I am actually going to have to trim one of the little "ears" off the corner of the trans case because it rubs the tunnel. Just an idea!
