I've been sidelined by other projects lately - had hoped to be done by now.
300hp in a 2500lb car is good math though. Mine already has upgraded brakes (4wheel disc), beefed drivetrain and adjustable coilovers. It gets a cage after I'm done with the engine swap.
And here's a pic of another guy's completed project:

Very nice! I just have to correct you on one thing. The LS1 makes a lot more than 300hp, most cars dyno 300hp at the rear wheels, making for closer to 340-350 hp at the engine. How efficient is the drivetrain in the 240? It might end up making even more rwhp than the same engine in an f-body. What rear end and tranny will you be using in the 240?

I say 300hp because that's what Gary's car dyno'd at (297 actually). RWHP is all that counts IMO.
I'm using the A4 because it was just so much cheaper. I'd really prefer the T56 - some day. I'm using the Camaro console and shifter.
The car currently sports a 4.11 gearset. I'm gonna leave it in there for now just for giggles, but I have a 3.54 that will go in at some point.
Exhaust is kind of a tricky thing in these cars. I'll be running 2 1/2 Y'd to 3 inch. Not sure which muffler yet. Duals would be nice, but then the diff mount has to be re-worked.
I'm using the Camaro fuel pump/sending unit/FPR combo as well. I have the whole camaro tank, but it may not fit. It's pretty tight and looks like the exhaust might interfere. I may try denting in the corner to make room, but since the tank is plastic, it may cause a leak.
I'd like to put a torque arm in there because less drivetrain loss seems like free HP to me, but that'll be done much later on.
Guages will be another tough one. I'd like to go the cheap route and adapt Camaro guages - aftermarket ones are out of reach of my wallet at the moment.

I actually pulled up your site long ago (I think I found it offa post on ls1.com). Very informative.
It looks like you had to spend some dollars to get those analog guages to work though. Especially the speedo. My wallet is on the skinny side...
What I'm thinking is that I should be able to pick up the whole guage cluster for between $50 and $100. Then I'll take it apart - split it into individual guages. I can make some new faces out of plastic or aluminum. There's already a couple of bitmaps of guage faces available on the net, so I'd just need to tweak the bitmap to match the camaro graduations. Then I'll print the faces out on mylar and mount them.
That's my idea anyway. If anyone has any comments, I'd welcome them. I haven't even seen a gauge cluster for an FBody, so I'm not positive it'll work as I expect. But in theory, each guage has some kind of motor or other such rotary device at its core to receive the signal from the PCM (via the harness) and translate that into a needle pointing to a position on the dial.

Imagine a superstroker in one of those 2500# cars with A4 and decent converter/gearing!!
500RWHP and 500RWTQ + 2500 pounds = SCARY!
Nice project I Am envious!
