Just wondering if anyone has tried this or knows anyone that has completed it. Sounds like a worth while adventure to me if it could be done.

I'm just finishing up my 95 Z28 now. It's been a pain in the ***, and alot of learning, but it's been worth it. I didn' use any manuals, or guides, I just did it all by looking and figuring it out. If you have a guide, or use build manuals, it should be alot easier. The engine I got came out of a 99 WS6 too, and it's an automatic. I still have ABS, cruise control, ect, but I got one without traction control. The only thing I didn't keep was the SRS, because that would have added alot to the cost of the conversion, and it added alot of wieght too. I'm also going to use 5 point harnesses so an air bag would'nt help much anyway. I'd say I probably dropped almost 300lbs from the cars former wieght of 3,670 lbs, just by cutting out extra wires from the harnesses, the damn monsoon stereo wiring came in at nearly 40lbs <img src="gr_eek2.gif" border="0"> thats gone, the air bags and and it's wires, sensors, and control boxes are over 100lbs, not to mention the LS1 it's self is lighter, as well as the trans, and driveshaft.

I replaced ALL the wiring in my car with 99 wiring. So I just used a dash, and guage cluster from the Trans Am donor car. Now you could go to some place like http://lt1350.com/ and they can modify your existing wire harness to work. The guys name is Dana Dash, and he's pretty damn good at getting things to work right. He also make the VATS bypass module that I use. It was a breeze to instal. The hard stuff is things like getting the steering to clear, and solving the fuel system issues. You'r also going to need to reprogram an LS1 PCM to work right. I'm not running any cats, egr, or AIR pump, and those things would otherwise throw codes like crazy.
