I'm interested in this also.. I just picked up a LS1 and want to install it in a S10 (2000 or newer). But I would like to hear from someone who has performed the swap>>>

Thanks Toxic!!
Great article but....Humm,,I may have to reconsider that idea.. It appears to be a bit more work than I had considered.. I guess thats why GM hasn't dropped in a V8
New Question what does a 2wd Short box step side weigh?? At least it would bolt in ect..

I see one every day, I drive it 80 miles to and from work in it. If you are interested in seeing it, go to www.zr2.com and look at my members page. It is a 1998 S10 ZR2 and my name is Mike Copeland. It is a very difficult swap with many custom parts.

LS1 ZR2, Nice site.. I agree with you, it does not appear to be an easy swap. So I will most likely move up to a full sized GMC or Chevy or pick something else.
Those are very nice rides LS1 ZR2

I would never order anything from "Lee's high tech" or "LHT" again. I got screwed soooo hardcore from them on ordering parts. He sent wrong parts, charged me, sent Sat. overnight delivery, when I said UPS ground.....overall I ended up paying around $1300 for what he said was going to cost $400 in used parts. I couldn't ever get in touch with him, and basically he took my money and I didn't hear from him for 2-3 months, then eventually I got a bunch of crappy wrong
parts that I shipped back, and he screwe me again. If anyone wants the full details just e-mail me. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM LHT!!!

I was just about to inquire about such a swap, but it looks like it's not for the weak hearted. So this leads me to my next question: How much of a plug and play operation would a 6.0L or 8.1L motor and the 4L80 tranny be in a 99' - up 1/2 ton truck? Would it be as simple as swapping the motor/trans. and reusing the 4.8L or 5.3L engine harness? Obviously you would need the computer from the donor vehicle. It's just a thought.

I saw some of Lee's high techs work when I droped my buddy off to have is Honda done.I guess they are two companys. He had it done By a Guy called John at Lht performance, He was real happy with everything done there. There was also a black s-10 there with a S/C LT1 in it, Looked real nice, I never met the owner of Lee's high tech, Even when he picked up his Honda he was not there. I'm considering have a S-10 done in the future when I get to talk the guy. Peace.
