the 99+ stangs use what is called a GEM, general electronics module, as well as a serial data bus that connects the GEM, Instrument cluster, computer (ECC< ECM, PCM, whatever you want to call it) together. The 99+ also uses "PATS" passive anti theft system, a chipped key, that is tied to the cluster, computer, and keys.

If you rip all of this out, you should be ok, however, im not sure how much of the cars other functions are rin through the GEM, i know the express down for the windows are, the Domelight supervision is, and i think the rear defroster timer, and other such features are as well.

If you want to rip all that out, and dont care about the rest of that, then go for it.

If i was doing such a swap, i would find a 94-98 wiring harness, and rewire the whole car, to get rid of all the little headaches that wiring can cause.

you also must change the fuel system, as the stangs 99+ use a computer controled returnless style system, where the LS1 computer is not designed to control one of these.

So a 94-98 tank, lines, and walbro 255 fuelpump are in order.

Im contemplating putting an LS1 into an older 88 style notch. Think of that bolt on record <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

the fox swap would be a lot easier, as from my understanding of the fox cars, there are 2 wiring harnesses, the Body harness, and the motor harness.

And i think the body harness even contains the ignition switch, and starter selonoid, so the wiring aspect of that swap, should be very easy.

The mounting and what not, should not be too difficult.

Good luck <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
