Simple! Just yank out the LS1 and slap in the LS6. For the money it would cost to buy a stock LS6 you could make the existing LS1 spank it to death so I'm not sure why you would bother with the swap

Default Z06 LS6 in a 01 SS ?

What all would it take to do a swap from a LS1 to a 02 Z06 LS6 providing I have the compleate Eng. and the PCM from the ZO6.

I know I will have to change the rearend and clutch soon but first I want to do the swap. For now I am gathering the info I might also add a cam but even without it would be one hell of a sleeper!

I totally agree with John.
I dont know what year your current LS1 is, but I assume it has low miles. I dont know your hopes for this car. If its a 10 second bruiser or a daily driver. However the way it sounds you want a faster daily driver.
I would diffently keep your stock engine.
Maybe new pistons and maybe rods.
For the most part I would get aftermarker LS1 ported/polished heads and a hot cam. Combine this with some good bolt ones like headers and cat back exhaust; ram air or cold air intake, new M.A.S. and you should out power a stock LS6 for ALOT less money. You can upgrade the ingition and fuel pump and injectors. There are many bolt ones available that will out power a LS6 (stock) and should cost less. If you want you can put a LS6 manifold on you car now. (as far as i know, im a LT-1 guy)
If you do get a wild hair to spend alot of $$$, I would get a 382 stroker kit. Now you are talking upper 400 horses with the heads, cam and bolt ones. Compared to only upper 300's in a stock LS6
To make a long story shorter, you can find alot more bang for your buck than getting that LS6.

Thanks for the input guys, However here are some more of the details. The LS6 is out of a 2002 Z06 the 405hp version, I plan on doing a cam and some head work before it goes in(maybe) even if not it would still be one hell of a sleeper with stock exaust manifold and cats. The heads and cam cars that I have been around are putting out 360-410 rwhp and hitting 12.00-11.30's the Z06 are 12.6-11.80'stock! with alittle tweaking A stock looking and sounding SS running 12.50-11.90 would have people freaking out. A well trained eye would have to look close to tell also.

The bigest reason I will be doing the swap is because I can get the the LS6 for less than a good set of heads. By the time I sell the manifold off of my 01 LS1 and a few other things I will only be out a few hundred $.
My 01 LS1 has 20k+ on it and the LS6 only 3K.
The car was baby till a inexperanced driver (the owners son) wraped it around a telephone pole in the rain. Also I could build one NASTY LS1 wile it was apart.

More feedback would be great!!

Thanks guys!

One of the reasons why the Z06 vette goes a little faster is weight. You throw it in a heavy f-body and it will be be at least .3 second slower in the quarter mile. Not sure on the weight the vette compared to the various weights of a stripper camaro up to heavy Trans AM, but anyways thats were most of difference is.

If your serious about this put a 2003 Z06 in which puts out 450 hp.

Well, if you want the LS6 engine in your car you only have to do two mods. A cam and heads. The 01 and 02 LS1 engines, have the LS6 block already. Simply get a LS1 Cam and LS6 heads, and violah youre done.

But why get crappy LS6 cam and heads, when you can get a better cam, and heads for same price and anihialate the Z06?
